Board Announces Next Steps for Coffee Party USA

Can you believe it has been more than 10 years since the “there has to be a better way” sentiment launched Coffee Party USA? Over this decade we have all been engaged, learning as we go, and responding to an ever-changing political and cultural landscape.

Powered only by members like you, volunteers (you know who you are), and in collaboration with an ever-expanding roster of partner organizations, we have remained true to the Civility Pledge, our mission, our vision, and our collective goals. Congratulations to us all!

Today your volunteer Board of Directors is pleased to announce the next step for Coffee Party USA.

We have accepted an invitation to become a part of The Bridge Alliance Education Fund family of projects, which also include The Fulcrum and Citizen Connect. Joining the Bridge Alliance will increase our collective impact to fulfill the mission of Coffee Party USA.

Coffee Party President, Jeanene Louden will fill one seat on the Bridge Alliance Education Fund board. Much else will remain the same for our volunteers, who have been working alongside Bridge Alliance staff for several months, to explore this opportunity. It’s a good fit.

In light of this next step, Coffee Party stopped accepting new members and recurring membership contributions on May 31, 2021. We invite our Coffee Party members to continue your contributions to Coffee Party within Bridge Alliance’s Friend of Bridge program.

Bridge Alliance is a coalition of 100 organizations working together as actively committed to a thriving, just, and healthy democracy based on a culture of inclusivity and equity.

Bridge Alliance Education Fund is the public education arm of Bridge Alliance. It is a tax-deductible nonprofit. If you choose to become a Friend of Bridge, your membership will become tax deductible! Please take a moment now to transfer your membership to Friend of Bridge

We hope you join us in celebrating the next chapter of Coffee Party USA.

Sincerely,

Your volunteer Board of Directors: Jeanene, Vince, Kevin, Egberto, and Werner

Coffee Party USA celebrates National Voter Registration Day

Today, September 24, 2019, is National Voter Registration Day. Americans are celebrating National Voter Registration Day with a massive 50-state effort to register voters before Election Day this November.

With local elections happening in a few weeks, every eligible American voter should exercise his or her right to be heard at the ballot box this year and next. National Voter Registration Day is the right place to start by getting registered.

That is why communities across the country are planning to use National Voter Registration Day to increase voter participation.

Thousands of national, state, and local organizations and volunteers will be the driving force behind National Voter Registration Day 2019. Partner organizations will coordinate hundreds of National Voter Registration Day events nationwide and leverage #NationalVoterRegistrationDay on all social media platforms to drive attention to voter registration and the midterm elections.

Coffee Party USA is proud to be a National Voter Registration Day partner. Today, Coffee Party USA is engaging its constituency and community by registering voters online at Coffee Party USA's Turbovote page. The effort’s website, www.NationalVoterRegistrationDay.org, provides a listing of National Voter Registration Day events across the country.

Founded in 2012, National Voter Registration Day is designed to create an annual moment when the entire nation focuses on registering Americans to exercise their most basic right – the right to vote. More than two million Americans have registered to vote on this day since the inaugural National Voter Registration Day. For inquiries about National Voter Registration Day, please contact

Happy National Coffee Ice Cream Day from Coffee Party USA!

Happy National Coffee Ice Cream Day!
If you are a coffee lover and a lover of ice cream, then this is the food holiday you look forward to every year. National Coffee Ice Cream Day is observed annually on September 6th.
Since today is a coffee national day, I'm using it to promote Coffee Party USA, just like I did last year on National Ice Cream Day by being a good environmentalist and recycling and updating what I wrote for National Nonprofit Day 2019.

I am celebrating National Coffee Ice Cream Day by asking my readers to donate to my favorite nonprofit, Coffee Party USA. I am a director and officer of the organization and I just donated $88.00 in addition to my regular $10.00 monthly dues.* That's far more than I expect my readers to donate, so instead I am asking my readers to please make a donation to match what I donated on National Nonprofit Day or my regular monthly contribution.

I described where your money and mine will go in Coffee Party USA announces the winners of the 2017-2018 Golden Coffee Cups for television
Coffee Party USA ia a 501c(4) nonprofit social welfare organization dedicated to empowering and connecting communities to reclaim our government for the people. To support its efforts, which include educating the public on our website and on our Facebook page, registering people to vote with our partners TurboVote and National Voter Registration Day, and reminding them to vote through our Voter Buddy program, please consider donating. A donation of $10.00 for ten years of Coffee Party USA is recommended. For those who wish to give at a higher level of support and be more involved in the organization, please consider becoming a member. To do the valuable work of the Coffee Party, as well as vote for future Golden Coffee Cup nominees and winners, volunteer. Not only will Coffee Party USA thank you for it, so will the country!
The Board of Directors is also holding its annual retreat at the end of this month, and your donations will help support our meeting while we plan the direction of the organization through next year.

Thanks for reading my appeal and even more thanks if you matched my dues through your donation or became a member.

"Mindhunter" won Best Drama Series about Politics and Government, "Veep" won Best Comedy Series about Politics and Government, "Black Mirror" won Best Miniseries or Movie for Television about Politics and Government, "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." won Best Comedy, Drama, Miniseries, or Movie for Television about Fantastic and Futuristic Politics and Government, and Kiefer Sutherland as Tom Kirkman in "Designated Survivor" won Best Television President. Congratulations to all the winners for depicting what the volunteers of Coffee Party USA considered to be the best of politics and government on television during the 2017-2018 season!

The volunteers of Coffee Party USA are not done recognizing the best of politics and government on television. Watch for an announcement of the nominees from the 2018-2019 television season next month.

Donate to Coffee Party USA for National Nonprofit Day 2019

Happy National Nonprofit Day! As I did last year, I am celebrating by asking my readers to donate to my favorite nonprofit, Coffee Party USA. I am a director and officer of the organization and I just donated $5.00 in addition to my regular $10.00 monthly dues.* I am asking my readers to please match my $5.00 donation.

I described where your money and mine will go in An early happy 9th birthday to Coffee Party USA and Happy Irish Coffee Day!
Your donation will allow "you to be a part of the important work of Coffee Party USA as we empower and connect communities to reclaim our government for the people." It will go to improving our website, the new version of which Coffee Party USA debuted in October and registering people to vote with our partners TurboVote and National Voter Registration Day. There are municipal and some state elections coming up this year and people need to be registered and reminded to vote in them.
Thank you in advance for your matching donation.

Once again, Happy National Nonprofit Day and Coffee Party on!

*I also donated $40.00 last month to match the $40.00 I paid to vote in the 2019 Saturn Awards. I decided this year that I would make a matching donation to Coffee Party USA for any donation I made to any other nonprofit this year. That means that I will match the renewal of my membership to the Detroit Zoo later this month. That would be $88.00 for a dual membership. I'm not asking my readers to match those donations, but if any of you did, the Coffee Party and I would appreciate you and your donation!

Coffee Party USA announces the nominees for the Golden Coffee Cups for the 2017-2018 television seas

Earlier today, I told my readers to "stay tuned for the nominees for the Golden Coffee Cups for television I promised in Coffee Party USA announces the winners of the 2018 Golden Coffee Cups for movies in April. Better late than never!" Yes, I promised these awards in May. It took me until August, after I had already started to blog about this year's Emmy nominees to actually follow through. As I already wrote, better late than never to continue to recognize the best of politics in entertainment.

It's time to be a good environmentalist and reuse with slight modification my introduction from Coffee Party Entertainment Awards movie nominees for 2018. The volunteers of Coffee Party USA and I have been voting for the past three weeks on which television shows and people to recognize for The Coffee Party Entertainment Awards AKA The Golden Coffee Cups. We came up with nominees in five categories showcasing the best in television shows from the 2017-2018 season about politics and government.

Coffee Party USA joins with Stamp Stampede to stamp money out of politics

Campaign finance reform and corporate reform are serious issues, but that doesn't mean that members and supporters of the Coffee Party can't have fun while working to "pass campaign finance laws that limit the impact of special interest groups such as corporations, major political parties, and lobbyists" and affirm that "Corporations are not people, but consist of people" as the Coffee Party's own goals declare. To that end, Coffee Party USA has partnered with Stamp Stampede to "stamp money out of politics."

Simply order the Coffee Party USA custom stamp from our partners at Stamp Stampede by clicking on the link. When your stamp arrives, start stamping your dollar bills. As Stamp Stampede says on its website, "Every dollar you stamp will reach 875 people, if you stamp 5 dollars a day for a year, that's over a million. Together, we can create a stampede that Congress can't ignore."

By the way, this is all perfectly legal. As our partners at Stamp Stampede have written, "it’s illegal to destroy paper currency or deface it so much that it’s no longer recognizable and has to be taken out of circulation. But that’s definitely not what we’re up to... Because we all want these bills to stay in circulation and we're stamping to send a message about an issue that's important to us, it's legal!"

What do our partners at Stamp Stampede expect once the people get the attention of Congress? They want "a constitutional amendment declaring that: 1) Money is not speech; [and] 2) Corporations are not people." Coffee Party USA supports these goals and asks that you, our members and supporters, get the message out through stamping your money. The results will be a lot more concrete and enduring than sharing one of our posts on Facebook, which we still want you to do, too.

Once we limit the power of special interest groups to influence our elections, we can work on making the rest of our vision true, that of "empower[ing] and connect[ing] communities to reclaim our government for the people" and making America "a nation of diverse communities sharing a culture of informed public engagement where our our solemn duty to vote is the only currency of our representative democracy."

In addition to spreading the word about getting money out of politics, purchasing a stamp will help support the Coffee Party. Stamp Stampede forwards a share of the price of each stamp to Coffee Party USA. Not only does each stamp get our message out, it acts as a fundraiser.*

So get your stamp and start stamping!

Update on membership drive from the website

Coffee Party membership card

On Feb. 28 we got a lot of donations all at once, which crashed our on-line donations tool several times. To avoid the overload, we've extended the Founding Members drive until midnight Hawaiian time March 3, 2011, which is 5 AM eastern time March 4, 2011. Despite the interruptions, we blew past our goal of $50,000 and are now over $115,000 with $70,000 raised since Monday afternoon.

Mod note: Coffee Party USA raised more money in the last two days than we did all of last year.

The Truth Is

Dear Friends,

Thank you for persevering despite our donations site overloading several times last night. It takes more than that to deter a Coffee Party Founding Member! This membership drive has surpassed all our goals, and, surpassed our imagination.
